            1644, CT)  They resided in the parish of Upway and Ruth Smith was known as "Old Goody Hoyt".

                  SIMON, his wife DEBORAH, and probably his parents came  from Upway near the southern
                  coast of England to America.   DEBORAH died at age 32 after having six children.  Her
                  brother Nicholas came over on the ship "Abigail" to Salem, MA, arriving with Governor
                  Endicott on Sept. 6, 1628.  Nicholas went on to Charlestown in 1629.

                  It appears they landed in Salem, MA, in 1628 or 1629.  They came shortly after the Mayflower
                  on either the "Abigail" or the "George".   They moved to Dorchester and some sources indicate
                  SIMON may have been the founder in 1630.  Their residences were Salem, Charleston, Scituate,
                  MA, in April, 1635, to  Windsor, CT, in 1639, to Fairfield, CT, in 1649, and Stamford, CT, where
                  SIMON died in 1657.  In 1646 William Thrall bought out the holdings of SIMON HOYT in Hoyte's Meadow.

                                          WILLIAM MILLER was originally of Strotford Place, BishopsStrotford, Hertfordshire,
                                          England. He fought against the Indiansin 1643.  With 23 other men he was an original
                                          settler of Northampton, MA.  In 1672 he lived on King Street, Northampton, MA,
                                          where he died.  He was a tanner and planter.
